Fatima Shrine Bible Study - January 12, 2009

On January 12, 2009 the members of the Fatima Shrine Bible Study continued our discussion of St. Paul's Letter to the Philippians Chapter Four under the direction of Father Peter Calabrese, CRSP.

Fr. Peter called to our attention that Verse 4 of Chapter 4 calls us to "Rejoice in the Lord Always" and let the peace of God reign in our hearts. Fr. Peter reminded us that we are to rejoice as a command from Saint Paul. St. Paul is exhorting us to rejoice from prison.

St. Paul in Chapter 4 reminds us to have forebearance-leniency with others. Fr. Peter also brought up the point that we need to have tolerance for others.

St. Paul reminds us that we are to have no anxiety about anything which is happening in our lives. The presence of the Lord brings us to the experience of peace. Prayer is our lifeline.

Fr. Peter reminded us that prayer is not just going through the gestures and appearances of prayer and that our prayer should not just be an expression of passiveness, but reminded us of the importance of living prayer in our lives.

Verse 8 of Chapter 4 reminds us the the virtue of truth which is a very Greco-Roman virtue.
