June 22, 2009

The members of the Fatima Shrine Bible Study under the direction of Father Peter continued our discussion of St. Paul's Letter to the Thessalonians. In Chapter 5, Verse 12 St. Paul asks us to respect our neighbor and to be at peace. Paul also reminds us to pray constantly and to abstain from evil.

Fr. Peter advised us that many scripture scholars find controversy in these particular passages of Paul.

St. Paul exhorts us to keep proper order in a Christ-like way of doing ministry and advises us to be patient with our leaders and those who are in authority. The role of Christian ministry is a role of service. Paul wants the community to run smoothly and gives encouragement to those who are faint hearted.

Fr. Peter reminded us that we should not get overly wrapped up in negativity and told us that Paul exhorts us to do good to one another. St. Paul also reminds us give thanks in all circumstances which can definitely challenge our faith. Our personal relationship with Jesus Christ can assist us with this.

Fr. Peter told us that prayer is union with God and that our prayers unite us to the will of God with the light of grace.

Fr. Peter also reminded us that the Fatima Shrine Bible Study will not be meeting on Monday evening August 3.
